Hello World!
It’s been a while, I know, but I am back as The Wife Within and will be here every Wednesday.
So last I left you, I was moving to Chicago. Well, it happened. Phew. We moved into our precious house and have been enjoying the last few months:
adjusting to life in the big city,
figuring out life as a graduate student and the wife of a grad student,
making new friends,
spending time with my family,
helping Charlie become a city boy,
celebrating the holidays,
venturing on random wanderlust trips,
getting re-inspired artistically,
surviving the cold weather (I’m so not used to this),
and…
how can I forget…
making my new house a home.
Here are some shots of my favorite parts of our humble abode. I like to call it our “Chicago Cottage.”
Lake Michigan that is.
Prairie School Stained Glass.
Mosaics and Charlie Paws.

Deer with Winter Style.
Grandpa’s Totem Poles.
Original Glass Door Knobs.
French Doors.
Hello, 1950′s.
A little piece of Virginia.
Mantle & Beams.
Wine Barrel = Side Table.
Retro & Letterpress.
Cowhide #2.
Ladder & Blankets.
Floating Elk Antler Shed.
My Princess Chair.
More Prairie School.
Let’s go upstairs.
Sheepskin, Quilt, and Cedar Chest. Time for bed.
Pharmacy Cabinet.
Bathroom Texture.
And, this little guy.
So there it is, my HOME. I sometimes laugh when I walk in my door because of how rustic, vintage, and random it can be in here. I don’t know if we have enough dead animals around? Or retro flair? Or barn wood?
SHEESH.
I know it’s not very urban, if at all. It’s not really Virginia and it’s not very Chicago, but it’s US. I am so happy here. It finally feels like home.
All I can say is that it’s been an adventure and I have to keep reminding myself how truly blessed I am.
So blessed.
See you next week!
